GAY MARRIAGE

       I think gay marriage is allowed, especially in America. I hear America is a free country. Why can people do whatever they want? If they love each other so much, why don’t we allow them to wed? I think gay people can move to free countries like America for marriage.

            Gay couple should be able to also adopt a child, if they can prove to be good parents. I have some reasons why they should. If they have a lot of money and they have a lot of free time to nurture kids, they can adopt children. Maybe they want to have children like a usual family. They want to have the same life as other families. It is better for kids to live with them than in orphanage.

            Most young people in my country don’t have same views as me. I think the views it will never change in my country, because my country is a religious country. I have different views because I moved to the United States 1 year ago.

            In western society, I think gay people will be totally accepted in society, but it needs more time because it’s still unusual. In eastern society, I think it will never ever be accepted. People in the east mostly still follow traditions and religions. My conclusion is they will never be totally accepted in society, even though I believe they should be.

NO VIOLENCE

“Violence is a tool of the ignorant.” That’s what comedian and television actor Flip Wilson said. Violence hurts, violence is never justified. I think violence cannot answer everything, it just causes revenge. People use violence because they are out of ideas about what they must do. I think violence is bad way to solve problems.

Now, we have intelligence, so we can solve all the problems with talking. We have more options to solve problems. An example for that is calling the police. We can ask our parents and ask for their opinion about problems, or maybe we can ask our closest friends.

There is only one reason why violence is justified; that is a self-defense. I agree with violence if used for self-defense. We cannot guess what will happen. For example, if somebody does a harmful action to you and you don’t have time to call the police. So, violence is only justified for self-defense.

MY SCARY EXPERIENCE

     Have you ever felt scared before? I have had a scary experience. It happened in  February of 2012. I was scared on my first day of school. 
     I arrived halfway through the school year. All the students already knew each other. I did not have any friends and I did not see any Indonesian students at school. The teachers screamed as they taught, it's like they wanted to eat us.
     I was scared starting the first day. I did not know English. I did not know what teachers said. I thought all the students English better than me. I couldn't make friends because of my poor English.
     Something changed, though. I joined the volleyball team. I tried to listen to what my teammates said. I found other Indonesian students who joined the volleyball team also. I asked if I didn't understand. I practiced talking with my teachers.
     That is my scariest experience. I did not know English, did not have friends, and I did not know what teachers said when I first came. I was shy to speak my poor English. Now my English is better than before. I'm not scared anymore.
   

ABOUT LAZY D.

Hi, my name Mr. D. I'd like to share some things about myself. Some people say I'm smart, but my teachers say I'm lazy.
Do you know why I'm lazy? I'm too lazy to do my homework at home. Usually I do it at school. I always write short little essays for homework. that's why my teacher says I'm lazy.

My hobby is sleeping. Some people might agree with my hobby, but maybe some do not. Sleeping refreshes your body. I always feel better after I sleep. If I have free time, I always sleep, draw, or play basketball. I do those things because I like them.

 I like playing basketball because I don't like just sitting and writing or studying. Basketball is so difficult, so I feel some challenge. I like drawing because it can show to people what I feel. I'm not a good artist, but it is for expression.

I don't really like writing. My English is limited, so I don't like writing. Do you know why I wrote this? Because my teacher said I must write this. If she didn't say to, I would sleep in her class. That is my confession.
